Not many people can claim to have had global success + change the landscape of music in the seventies and eighties and then still be getting critically acclaimed number 1 albums in 2019. Terry Hall from The Specials is possibly the only one.
As the vanguard of the Two Tone label and movement, The Specials helped define Britain, fusing reggae, ska, punk & politics. Inspiring a generation and the musical landscape. The band burnt brightly, only active for two years, splitting in the Top Of The Pops stdio while Ghost Town sat at number 1 in the charts. The band gloriously returned to the live arena a few years ago and then in 2019, returning to Number 1 in the album charts with their new “Encore” album.
Following The Specials, Terry has never been far from the action working with the likes of Fun Boy Three, Dub Pistols, Lily Allen, Gorrilaz, Toots and the Maytals amongst many other collabarations.
Catch him at The Purty Kitchen for one night only this May with special guests to be announced!
